Asia’s longest Hyperloop tube is being built in India, speed can exceed 1000 km per hour
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that an ambitious Hyperloop project is being developed at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He said that Asia’s longest Hyperloop tube will be built in this project. He said that its length will be 410 meters and it will soon become the world’s longest Hyperloop. The Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting and Information Technology inspected the Hyperloop project at IIT Madras on March 15. He said that the electronics component technology for the Hyperloop project will be developed at the ‘Integral Coach Factory’ in Chennai.
Speed of over 1000 kmph
In a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Sunday, Vaishnav shared a video of his visit to the IIT Madras campus and said, “The longest Hyperloop tube in Asia (410 m) will soon be the longest in the world.” Hyperloop is considered the fifth mode of transport. It is a high-speed train that travels in a near-vacuum tube. The low air resistance inside the tube helps the capsule reach speeds of over 1,000 kmph. The Ministry of Railways in May, 2022 approved an allocation of Rs 8.34 crore to IIT Madras to indigenously develop and validate the Hyperloop transportation system and its sub-systems.
Where will the first Hyperloop run
India’s first Hyperloop train can run between Mumbai and Pune. It will complete the journey of 150 km in just 25 minutes. The special thing about Hyperloop is that the train does not stop anywhere between two stations. The Maharashtra government has approved the Hyperloop Transportation System Project.
