Sony will compete with Samsung, bringing 200MP, and 100MP flagship camera sensors!

Sony may soon launch its 200MP, and 100MP camera sensors which will be used in upcoming flagship smartphones. The Japanese company has been among the world’s largest image sensor and camera manufacturing companies for a long time. However, Samsung is already using 200MP camera sensors in its flagship smartphones. Now Sony is going to jump into this race. Let’s know how Sony’s new camera sensors will be.

Sony is reportedly working on its 200MP, and 100MP smartphone sensors. This has been revealed in a latest leak. China’s well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has shared (via) a post on Weibo. The post states that the 100MP sensor will be used by many Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the coming time, which will be used in phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Dimensity 9500 flagship chipsets. This means that the smartphones that will be launched in the market by the end of this year can see a big change in the camera and image processing.

As far as the 200MP sensor is concerned, Sony can be seen using it in its upcoming smartphones soon. Along with this, these sensors will also be sold to other Chinese OEMs. According to Sammobile’s report, the 200MP Sony sensor will be bigger than the existing 200MP ISOCELL sensors. The 200MP ISOCELL sensor is currently seen in smartphones like Vivo X200 Pro (telephoto lens) and Galaxy S25 Ultra (main camera).

Vivo X200 Pro has been in the news due to its 200 megapixel periscope telephoto lens. The result of which may be that soon Sony’s 100MP and 200MP sensors can be seen in the flagship smartphones of all Chinese companies. Now it remains to be seen how much difference the 100MP sensors bring in the flagship smartphones of Chinese companies. Because most Chinese smartphone makers have been using 50MP sensors as the main sensor in their mobiles for a long time. Therefore, this is also considered to be the right time to increase the resolution.

Samsung is using a 200MP ISOCELL sensor as the main camera in its flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra. It is rumored that the company will use this sensor in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Many Chinese companies are currently compromising on the 50MP main sensor because the 200MP ISOCELL sensor has some limitations. But very soon this situation is going to change. Chinese smartphone companies may soon be seen shifting to 100MP and 200MP main sensors.
