Big relief to millions of Amazon sellers, now they will not have to pay this fee on products less than ₹ 300
If you are a seller on e-commerce giant Amazon, then there is a relief news for you. Amazon India has announced to reduce the referral fee to zero on more than 1.2 crore products priced less than Rs 300 on its platform. That is, you no longer have to pay this fee. According to PTI news, referral fee is a commission that sellers pay to Amazon for every product sold. Announcing this, the company has said that the purpose of this move is to support small businesses and promote the growth of sellers on Amazon.
Trying to make sales more attractive
According to the news, Amit Nanda, Director, Selling Partner Services, Amazon India, said that by eliminating referral fees on crores of products and reducing shipping costs, we are making selling on Amazon more attractive for sellers. This initiative supports the growth of sellers on Amazon, enabling them to offer a wider selection and make more competitive offers to customers, especially on everyday low-priced items.
Zero referral fee will be applicable in 135 product categories
Under this initiative of Amazon, zero referral fee will be applicable in 135 product categories like apparel, footwear, fashion jewellery, grocery, home decor and furnishings, beauty, toys, kitchen products, automotive and pet products. Apart from this, Amazon has also introduced a new flat rate for sellers using external fulfillment services like Easy Ship and Seller Flex. National shipping rates now start at Rs 65, down from Rs 77. Flat rate shipping is a pricing model in which a fixed cost is charged for shipping packages, regardless of their weight, size or distance, within set limits.
Handling fee reduced to Rs 17
Easy Ship is a fulfillment channel where Amazon collects packages from the sellers’ location and delivers them to customers, As part of Seller Flex, Amazon manages a part of the sellers’ warehouse as an Amazon fulfillment center. In addition, Amazon has reduced the handling fee for lightweight goods weighing less than 1 kg to Rs 17, reducing the fees paid by sellers.
Amazon says that sellers who ship more than one product unit at a time will save more than 90 percent in selling fees on the second unit. These changes will enable sellers to offer more choice, competitive offers and grow their business.
