Maruti Suzuki will set up its third plant here, will invest ₹7410 crores, this will be the capacity
Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car maker, said it is setting up its third plant in Haryana at Kharkhoda in the state. The company’s board on March 26 approved an investment of Rs 7,410 crore for setting up the plant. According to a PTI report, the new plant will have an annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units. Another plant with a capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum is under construction, Maruti Suzuki said in a regulatory filing.
Capacity will reach 7.5 lakh units in Kharkhoda by 2029
According to the news, the board in its meeting held on Wednesday approved setting up a third plant in Kharkhoda, which will have a capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles per year. With this, the capacity in Kharkhoda is expected to reach 7.5 lakh units per year and the proposed capacity will be added by 2029. The company said that the investment will be financed from internal sources. The purpose of setting up the third plant is to increase market demand, including exports.
Here are the company’s plants
Maruti Suzuki has three main manufacturing plants in India. Gurugram and Manesar in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat, which have a combined annual production capacity of 2.35 million units. Maruti Suzuki is focusing on green manufacturing. The company plans to expand solar capacity at its Manesar and Kharkhoda plants. The company manufactures several best-selling vehicles such as the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Wagon R, Dzire, S-Presso, Ciaz and Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram plant in Haryana has a capacity of 700,000 units per annum, while its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat can produce 750,000 units per annum. Additionally, its Manesar plant now has a capacity of 900,000 units per annum. The company’s production capacity will be further strengthened once the new plant in Haryana becomes operational.
