Trump again took a decision that shook the world – imposed a ban on 50 companies

The US has put more than 50 Chinese tech companies on the “export blacklist”. This move by the Donald Trump administration is being seen as a major attempt by Beijing to limit AI and chip technology. The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the US Commerce Ministry has put a total of 80 companies on the “entity list”, of which more than 50 are from China. Government permission will now be required to provide American technology and software to companies included in this list.

These companies are accused of working against America’s national security and foreign policy. Many of these companies were involved in making military grade AI, supercomputers and high-performance chips.

Who all are in the blacklist? 27 Chinese companies:- Accused of strengthening China’s military using American technology

7 companies: Accused of supporting China’s progress in quantum technology

6 subsidiaries: Of Chinese cloud company Inspur Group, which was previously blacklisted by the Biden government

Two companies were supplying to Huawei and its chipmaker HiSilicon

Why was this step taken? US Commerce Secretary Jeffrey Kessler says that we are ensuring that American technology is not used for high-performance computing, hypersonic missiles, military training and drones (UAVs).

Big concern: Third party and smuggling- America fears that Chinese companies are still acquiring US banned technologies through third parties.

According to experts, the US will now further intensify tracking and tracing, especially on chips made by US companies like Nvidia and AMD.

Response from China? Huawei and Inspur Group have not yet responded on this matter.

What does it mean for India and the world? This attack on Chinese tech companies is a sign of the growing US-China tech war.

This may affect the global chip supply chain, AI research and trade relations of tech companies.

This can be a strategic opportunity for countries like India, where technology investment and chip manufacturing can be promoted.
