BSNL will soon launch 5G service, the company got spectrum worth Rs 61,000 crore
Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)’s 5G service can be launched soon. The Department of Telecom (DoT) has allocated spectrum worth Rs 61,000 crore to BSNL. The company’s 5G service can be started from the capital Delhi.
A media report has stated that BSNL has got spectrum in premium bands like 700 MHz and 3,300 MHz, which is important for 5G. Private telecom companies like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have 5G networks in a large part of the country. To compete with these companies, BSNL needs to launch 5G service soon. Recently, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that in the last six to seven months, BSNL has added 55 lakh new subscribers. He had said that efforts are being made to bring the company back to profit and increase the number of its subscribers.
For the first time from June last year to February this year, the company’s subscribers have increased from about 8.55 crores to about 9.1 crores. The company has increased its revenue as well as reduced its cost. BSNL has made preparations to improve its services. For this, the company has set April as ‘Customer Service Month’. In this, efforts will be made to improve the experience of customers using the company’s services across the country by taking feedback from them.
Recently BSNL had said, “All circles and units of the company will participate in this campaign.” Its objective is to improve the quality of mobile network, increase the reliability of fiber broadband (FTTH) and resolve customer complaints quickly. In April, feedback will be taken from customers through the company’s website, social media channels and other means. After this, this feedback will be reviewed by the company’s chairman, Robert J Ravi. BSNL plans to upgrade its 4G network to 5G from June. The company has a target of launching about one lakh 4G sites by June. Out of these, about 89,000 4G sites have been installed.
