Vodafone Idea expands 5G in these 11 cricket stadiums in India

Vodafone Idea launched its 5G service in Mumbai last month and now the company is going to expand its 5G service to cricket stadiums in 11 cities of India. The current IPL T20 league is being held in these cricket stadiums from March to May, in view of which the company has taken this step to ensure fast internet connectivity to the users. 5G service is now available in cricket stadiums in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. The company has said that the move is aimed at providing better connectivity for the spectators watching the match. Vi has improved the infrastructure to provide more amount of internet for the estimated users in these cricket. This includes the installation of additional 5G network sites and integration of technologies like BTS and Massive MIMO. According to the company, these changes are designed to provide consistent and high-speed connectivity inside the stadium.

Vodafone Idea has set up 53 new 5G sites, capacity enhancements at 44 existing sites and installed 9 Cell on Wheels units in the stadiums. Vodafone Idea customers using 5G enabled devices can access 5G network inside these stadiums by turning on 5G settings on their mobile phones.

The stadiums in India where Vodafone Idea 5G is now enabled include Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), Dr. Y.S.R. ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), Eden Gardens (Kolkata), Ekana Stadium (Lucknow), M.A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium (Mullanpur, Chandigarh), NaMo Stadium (Ahmedabad), Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Hyderabad) and Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur).

For customers who are unable to go to the cricket stadium and watch the match, Vodafone Idea is offering recharge packs which include unlimited data as well as Jio Hotstar subscription. These packs start at Rs 101 and customers can recharge them through the Vi app or the company’s website.
