Tata Group’s investment of 27 thousand crores in North East will give new strength
North East is geographically called the last corner of the country and perhaps this is why governments are often accused of ignoring this region.
Now Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that now North East should not be considered the last corner but the front of the country. He told that Tata Company is setting up a semiconductor plant worth Rs 27,000 crore in Assam, which is proof that this area has tremendous potential.
Assam chosen for investment
Scindia was speaking at News18’s ‘Rising India Summit 2025’. He said that now infrastructure has been built almost everywhere in the North East and it is a big thing that a big company like Tata chose Assam and not any other state.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked about the upliftment of the North East in the last 10 years and has also executed it. Scindia said, “A region of our country which was always seen as the last frontier has now turned into the first frontier of the country.”
Increase in the number of airports
Scindia said that in the last 10 years, the number of airports in the northeastern states has increased from 9 to 16 and the length of national highways has increased from 10,000 km to 16,000 km.” Scindia also said that the Northeast has been an important place for all trade deals. He said, “The northeastern states of India are driving the country’s economy forward by registering an economic CAGR growth of 12-15%.”
