Now iPhones will be made in Noida too! Foxconn is going to set up a factory, know what is the company’s plan
New Delhi: Foxconn, the world’s largest vendor for Apple, is thinking of setting up its first factory in Uttar Pradesh. This factory can be built on 300 acres of land near Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida. Economic Times has given this information through sources. This is the first time that Foxconn will set up a unit on its own in UP.
A source said that this factory can be slightly bigger than the Foxconn factory to be built in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru factory will be the company’s second largest factory in the world. It is not yet decided what will be built in the Greater Noida factory. Talks are going on with the government. Foxconn works not only for Apple, but also for Microsoft and Sony. This company makes electronic products ranging from smartphones to tablets, TVs etc. Apple also gets many of its products including iPhones made at Foxconn.
Where has Foxconn taken the land?
The land on which Foxconn’s factory can be built is in the same area where HCL-Foxconn has acquired 50 acres of land for OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility. OSAT means a facility for assembling and testing semiconductor chips. This project is yet to get approval.
Another source said that the Indian government had proposed 300 acres of land for the Foxconn Industrial Park project last year. The talks are still in the initial stage. It is not yet decided which products will be made and who will be the customers.
