Apple preparing to open new stores in Noida and Pune
Apple’s new stores may start soon in India. These Apple stores can be opened in DLF Mall of India in Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Kopa Mall in Pune in Maharashtra. Apart from this, the company plans to open two additional stores. Apple’s existing stores are in Delhi and Mumbai.
A media report quoted sources aware of the company’s plans as saying that Apple has finalized the location for its third and fourth stores in Noida and Pune. Apart from this, it is looking for locations for two stores in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The combined revenue of the company’s two existing stores in the first year of sales was about Rs 800 crore. In this, the share of Saket store in Delhi was 60 percent. In October last year, Apple’s Senior Vice President (Retail), Deirdre O’Brien announced the company’s expansion plan. After this, the company started hiring about 400 workers in the country.
Apple has ranked first in international sales of smartphones in the first quarter of this year. The company has benefited from the increased demand in India and Japan and the launch of iPhone 16e. The company has a market share of about 19 percent in the smartphone market. Apple’s sales in the US, Europe and China have been flat or have decreased. South Korea’s Samsung is in second place with a market share of about 18 percent in the smartphone market.
Stock of Apple’s iPhones is being accumulated to avoid tariffs imposed on imports by President Donald Trump in the US. However, Trump has not included computers, smartphones and some other electronic products in the tariffs imposed on imports from China. iPhone’s share in smartphone exports from India was about Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the last financial year. iPhone manufacturing has grown rapidly in the country in the last few years. Apple’s contract manufacturer Foxconn assembled about 1.2 crore iPhones in the country last year. China has a major share in the manufacturing of iPhones. Recently, a report said that the company also plans to start manufacturing AirPods, MacBook and iPad in India soon.
