Questions raised on Google Pay, allegations of unauthorized use of Aadhaar-banking data, know the whole matter

The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on a petition. It has been alleged in this petition that Google Pay is accessing Aadhaar and banking details of people in an unauthorized manner. According to the news, at the same time, the petition has also been accused of storing these data in an unauthorized manner on behalf of Google Pay.

The company was asked to clarify its stand

According to the news, a bench of the Delhi High Court, while issuing notice on the petition, has also asked Google India Digital Services Private Limited to clarify its stand. The next hearing on the petition of economist Abhijit Mishra will be held on November 8.

The petition said that the terms and conditions of Google Pay state that it is storing payment details (bank account and Aadhaar details) of the parties. Whereas no such permission has been given by the concerned authorities.

What is said in the petition?

It has been said in the petition that Google Pay, being a private sector company, does not have the right to collect, use and store Aadhaar and banking information of citizens. In another petition, the petitioner has claimed that Google Pay is facilitating financial transactions without due approval from the Reserve Bank.
