Russia’s reply to Meta: Instagram will launch its own photo-sharing app Rosgram after being blocked, features like crowdfunding and paid access
After the ban of Instagram, Russia has created its own photo sharing app Rossgram. Which will be launched on March 28. It will have features like crowdfunding and paid access to certain content. Jobov shared a photo on Russia’s social media platform V kontakte. According to this, the color scheme and layout of Rosgram will be similar to that of Instagram.
Russia will also make a smartphone named Ayya T1
Meta has yet to comment on Rossgram’s design. Russia has been developing its country’s technology in recent months, including the Ayya T1 smartphone by state group Rostec. Also in November, Gazprom Media launched its own app, Yappi, similar to the video-sharing platform Tik-Tok.
Create your own Instagram after blocking Instagram
Russia’s state communications regulator Roskomnadzor has been blocked on Instagram since Monday after Instagram’s parent Meta last week openly allowed social media users in Ukraine to post violent “deaths of Russian attackers”. Meta, which also owns Facebook, only applied a temporary change to this policy on Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
Meta believes that it would be wrong to prevent Ukrainians from expressing their resistance and anger at an attack by Russian military forces. The start of the war with Ukraine allowed Facebook and Instagram users in some countries to post violence against Russian civilians and forces. Russia has already blocked access to Facebook. Apart from this, limited access has also been imposed on Twitter. Russia has already banned Facebook and started a criminal investigation against Meta. It has also been named an “extremist organization”. The matter is currently in the court of Russia.
