British PM’s visit to India: PM Boris Johnson inaugurated JCB plant in Halol, ready for 650 crores
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s two-day visit to India has started from today. His tour has started from Gujarat. Today PM Boris inaugurated the new unit of JCB Company in Halol, Vadodara, Gujarat. In this unit, other construction equipment including bulldozer (backhoe loader) will be made. This is the sixth plant of British-origin company JCB in India.

About Rs 650 crore has been spent to build this plot. Boris Johnson, who arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday morning, visited the JCB plant in Halol. According to the company, there has been a significant increase in the sales of its equipment, including backhoe loaders, in India in the last three years.

He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi in Delhi on April 22. Apart from diplomatic issues, discussions are also expected between Boris Johnson and PM Narendra Modi on strategic defense and economic partnership.
Johnson’s India tour to be postponed from 2020
Britain is keen to increase its annual trade with India to Rs 2.89 lakh crore. Johnson’s tour of India has been postponed from 2020. In 2021, he held a virtual summit with PM Modi. It laid out a roadmap for strategic and business cooperation for 2030. India has agreed to an investment deal worth Rs 5,300 crore in the UK. Now it will also be included in the agenda till 2035.
His visit is also important because his trip has been canceled twice before. For the first time, he was invited as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in early 2021 but the tour was canceled due to the rise in the number of Covid cases in the UK. After this, his tour was postponed again last year due to the pandemic situation in India.
