Cabinet approves free booster dose: Second big decision- Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road railway project of Rs 2798 crore approved.

Two major decisions have been taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Giving information about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that from July 15, in the next 75 days, people above 18 years of age will be able to get a booster dose of corona vaccine free of cost.

This free booster dose can be administered till September 27. This booster dose will be available at government centers. He told that at present 199 crore vaccine doses have been applied in the country. Apart from this, approval was also given to connect the Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu road with the railway network.

Right now people above 60 years of age are getting free booster dose

So far, less than 1% of the target population of 77 crores in the age group of 18-59 years have received the precaution dose. Nearly 26% of the 160 million eligible population aged 60 years and above and healthcare and frontline workers have received a booster dose.

A few days ago, the government had also reduced the interval for taking booster doses. One could get a booster only after 9 months of taking the first two doses, but now that time has also been reduced to 6 months. Studies by ICMR and other international research centers show that antibody levels decrease after about six months of both doses of the vaccine. Giving a booster dose increases the immune response.
