TRAI expresses displeasure over denial of recommendation on ‘Access Network Provider’ license.

New Delhi, Sep 6 (PTI) Telecom regulator TRAI on Tuesday said the DoT has rejected its recommendation to issue separate Access Network Provider (ANP) licenses without giving any reasoning.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) also objected to the DoT’s recommendation to enable separate tiers (infrastructure, network, etc.) Is.

The regulator had recommended the DoT to create a separate category of telecom licenses for ‘access network providers’. As per this recommendation, ANP licensees can set up an entire telecom network to provide their services to telecom service providers and Internet service companies.

However, TRAI also recommended not allowing ANP to direct telecom services to retail consumers.

But the government has come to the conclusion that there is no market demand for the ANP license yet. In this context, TRAI has said that the DoT has not given any concrete reason behind the rejection of this recommendation.
