India has the ability to lead the telecom sector, Ashwini Vaishnav on the new telecom bill.

Union Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed on Friday that the new telecom bill will be introduced in the next six to ten months. India has the capability to lead the telecom sector. Let us inform that on 22 September itself, the Indian Telecom Department has introduced the draft of the proposed Indian Telecom Bill 2022. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has also sought suggestions from the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) on the framework of the bill by October 20.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on the new Telecom Bill 2022 that the new bill emphasizes on effective use of spectrum. It contains rules and regulations for regulating telecom and internet based services. The IT Minister further said that we want new and important changes to come in the telecom sector.

He said, “India has the full potential to lead the way in telecom technology. Spectrum is the basic raw material of telecom services. If we are to make India a very important power in telecommunication technology, we must have a framework that allows efficient and very effective use of spectrum. We are bringing a significant change through the Telecommunication Development Fund. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided to expand the USOF (Universal Service Obligation Fund). Prime Minister Modi has made it clear earlier that we will build global standard 5G network in India and lead the world in 6G technology.

The IT Minister further said that the new telecom bill is focusing on the security of users. In the new bill, both the service provider and the user will be able to identify the caller. Also, the telecom sector and internet-based service delivery platforms will be regulated in the same way.
