Tata Price Hike: Tata’s cars will be expensive! Price may increase in two phases.

New Delhi. India’s largest automobile manufacturer Tata Motors Limited will showcase a variety of electric vehicles (EVs) at the upcoming Auto Expo. However, due to rising battery costs, new battery norms for EVs and the execution of BS-VI emission norms for IC-engine vehicles in April, the price of new vehicles is expected to increase significantly.

Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said during an interview that to minimize the impact of this price hike on customers, the company may need to implement the price hike in two phases. .

Strong demand for Tiago EV

He further said that when we announced that the bookings for Tiago EV will start from October 10, the system crashed on the very first day due to heavy traffic. We have received 10,000 bookings. So far we have received over 20,000 bookings and demand is still strong. We anticipate that when people are able to test drive and see the car in person, the demand will only grow. However, we will announce the new price in January for bookings above 20,000.

Our next set of EVs will be Gen-1 and Gen-2 products from our existing portfolio. The Tiago EV was the last of the Gen-1 products, taking the total to 4 Gen-1 EVs. In Gen-2 (400-500 km certified range), we will have four products, which could be a new nameplate and three existing products. In Gen-3 (proven range over 500 km), we will have two new EVs, which will be based on a new skateboard platform.
