Google: Google’s anti-competitive activities harm economy and customers, alleges MapMyIndia CEO.

Domestic company Map My India (MapMyIndia) has made a big allegation on Google. Map My India CEO Rohan Verma says that Google’s anti-competitive activities are causing huge damage to India’s economy and Indian customers. He said that Google harms its competitors, due to which Indian competitors like Map My India are being strangled. Explain that in October itself, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had imposed a fine of about Rs 1,338 crore on the American company Google, after which Google has challenged the penalty order in the NCLAT.

Map My India CEO Rohan Verma said that during the Corona era, Map My India played a big role in informing people about the nearby Containment Zones, Testing and Treatment Centers, while no such facility was provided in Google Map, Rather, Google had removed our app from the Play Store. He said that when a complaint was made, the Map My India app was included back in the Play Store.

He accused Google that Google maintains its monopoly in the market with anti-competitive activities. In such a situation, Google makes it very difficult for its alternative operating system, app store and apps like Maps to spread among users.

Google has been fined

Recently, the Competition Commission of India imposed a fine of around Rs 1,338 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position in the Android mobile devices sector to stifle competition. In its order, the commission had also directed Google to stop unfair business activities and change the way of working.

Google has challenged the appellate tribunal NCLAT regarding the order of CCI imposing a penalty of Rs 1337 crore. According to sources, Google has sought a stay on the CCE order. The company believes that the CCE failed to appreciate the strong evidence placed by the OEM in this matter. Google says Android has brought immense benefits to Indian users, developers and OEMs and empowered India’s digital transformation.
