AMUL: Shamal Patel re-elected as chairman of GCMMF, company marketing Amul’s products

Dairy cooperative leader Shamal Patel was on Tuesday unanimously re-elected as the president of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). The Kisan Sahakari Samiti said in a statement that the company’s turnover during the last financial year stood at Rs 46,481 crore.


The statement issued by GCMMF said that the board meeting was held for the election of GCMMF, India’s largest food products organization. The meeting unanimously elected Shamal Patel as the President and Valamji Humbal as the Vice President.


Patel is also the president of Saber Dairy Union, one of the largest dairy unions in the state. GCMMF has an annual turnover of over Rs 6,800 crore and has 3.85 lakh milk producing farmers as its members. He has been associated with the Dairy Cooperative Societies of Gujarat for the last 33 years. He was first elected as the president of the GCMMF in July 2020 and was re-elected on Tuesday after his two-and-a-half-year term expired.


The GCMMF said the Deputy Collector of Anand conducted the election in the presence of 17 of the 18 members representing their district milk unions in the state. Patel’s name was proposed by Ashok Chowdhary, president of Mehsana Milk Union and seconded by Ramsingh Parmar, president of Kaira Milk Union and other member unions of GCMMF.
