AI Robot: AI robots deployed on the beaches of Goa will save lives like lifeguards

The discussions of Artificial Intelligence ie AI have now intensified. In this episode, Artificial Intelligence based robot Aurus has been deployed on the beach of Goa. This robot will work like a lifeguard to save lives. State-appointed lifeguard service agency has said that Aurus, an artificial intelligence based self-driving robot and AI based monitoring system Triton have been deployed on the beaches of Goa. This will serve to prevent beach related accidents and enhance life saving capabilities.

This is the specialty of the robot

A spokesperson for lifeguard outfit Drishti Marine said the inclusion of the AI-based support comes after a rise in beach-related incidents on the coast of Goa due to the increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists. Indeed, the coastal zone has seen more than 1,000 rescue incidents in the past two years, requiring the assistance of the agency’s lifeguards.

He said Aurus is a self-driving robot developed to assist lifeguards by patrolling extensive non-swimming areas and alerting tourists during high tide. He said that this would help in increasing the surveillance on the beaches and manage the crowd.

In addition, the primary focus of the monitoring system Triton is to provide fully AI-based monitoring of non-swimming areas, thereby alerting tourists to danger and notifying the nearest lifeguard.

Agency will increase the number of robots

According to an agency official, Auras is currently deployed at Miramar beach in North Goa, while Triton is deployed at Baina, Velsao, Benolim, Galgibagh in South Goa and Morjim in North Goa. He said that 100 Triton units and 10 Auras units would be deployed on the beaches of the State this year.
