Ford says that the company is working to expand its electric vehicles to Europe by 2025. In such a situation, no change has been made in this planning. Earlier, the company had announced that it would start production of its first electric car made in Europe by the end of this year. In such a situation, the company aims to lay off about 2,800 people in its engineering. And the remaining 1,000 people have to be retrenched from the administration. The employees will be fired in a phased manner over three years. Giving a statement on the retrenchment, Ford’s general manager in Europe, Martin Sanzder, said that this decision was very difficult for the company, but it is necessary to take this decision in the uncertainty spread in the world. The company has already laid off
Ford had earlier done mass layoffs in January 2023 as well. The company had laid off around 3,200 employees across Europe. About 2,500 employees of its development and 700 people of administration were affected by this retrenchment. At the same time, in the second quarter of last year, the company had also laid off 3,000 employees. The company had announced that it would completely shut down the Saarlouis plant in Germany by 2025.
