ChatGPT: ChatGPT banned in China, accused of spreading American point of view.

Now in China, the government has come down heavily on ChatGPT, a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence. Internet companies in China have been instructed not to offer ChatGPT services on their platforms. The Chinese government alleges that the programming of this chatbot has been done in such a way that it answers the questions asked from an American perspective.

Companies such as Tencent Holdings and Ant Group have been asked to stop access to ChatGPT services immediately. They have been directed not to allow any third party to use their platform, who provides the services of this chatbot. Chinese companies are preparing to launch their chatbots. But now the government has said that before introducing these chatbots to the consumers, their information should be given to the concerned government department.

ChatGPT was launched three months ago by US-based startup company Open-AI. Microsoft has also invested in this company. In no time, ChatGPT became very popular all over the world. Although this chatbot is not officially available in China, many people are using it through VPN. Meanwhile, by copying this chatbot, many companies have launched their own apps or websites providing similar services. Such services have become available on WeChat, the social media platform of Tencent Company. After the latest government order, now these will be banned.

According to a report published on the website NikkeiAsia.com, Tencent has stopped all such services due to government pressure. According to this report, a sharp reaction was being seen in the government departments of China regarding ChatGPT. On Monday, China’s official newspaper China Daily had said in a social media post that through this chatbot, those who spread anti-government information can get help. Also, distorted narratives about global events can be spread in Chinese society.

Sources in China’s Internet industry said they were not surprised by the latest government order. An official of a major Chinese tech company told the website NikkeiAsia- ‘It was our understanding from the beginning that ChatGPT would never be allowed to enter China. Due to the censorship policy, its own versions of ChatGPT will be launched in China.

An official of another company said that even if the government order had not been issued, his company would not have used ChatGPT. The official said- ‘It is natural that some people will ask politically sensitive questions to the chatbot. While the company will be held responsible for such questions and chatbot answers on them.

Companies like Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu are preparing to bring their chatbots in China. Baidu has announced the launch of its chatbot named ‘Arnie Bot’. It is understood that the programming of chatbots brought to China will be different, so they will answer political questions according to the policy of the Chinese government.
