Exports of mobile phones from the country increased to about $ 9.5 billion in February. Apple accounts for half of the total exports. An official of mobile equipment industry body India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) said the industry is on track to surpass the target of exporting mobile phones worth $10 billion from the country in the current financial year. Exports were around $8.5 billion at the end of January and reached $9.5 billion in February, he said.


Mobile phone exports increased 6.62 times


According to ICEA, mobile phone exports from the country in the financial year 2021-22 stood at $5.5 billion. The official said that Apple now dominates with 50 per cent share in exports, followed by Samsung, which accounts for about 40 per cent of the total exports. Piyush Goyal also tweeted on increasing mobile exports and made it just a start. He tweeted that India’s mobile phone exports have increased 6.62 times in April-January 2022-23 as compared to the same period of 2013-14.
