Mudra Yojana: Government distributed 23.2 lakh crore Mudra loan, 40 crore people got new flight.

Under the Mudra Yojana, which provides loans to Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) on easy terms without collateral, loans worth Rs 23.2 lakh crore have been disbursed to more than 40 crore beneficiaries in eight years.


Among its beneficiaries, 51 are tribals, Dalits and backward class people. 68 per cent loan accounts are opened in the names of women. This loan scheme, launched with the aim of strengthening the economy through MSMEs and creating employment opportunities at the grassroots level, has provided direct and indirect employment to 1.12 crore people.


80 million people first generation entrepreneurs


Eight crore (21 per cent) of the total beneficiaries of the scheme are first generation entrepreneurs. These are people who do not have a business or professional background. In this scheme, interest subvention of two percent is also available on prompt repayment of Shishu loans.

Under the scheme, loans are given in Shishu, Kishor and Tarun categories depending on the maturity status of the business. Loans are given up to Rs.50,000 in the Shishu category, up to Rs.5 lakh in the Kishor category and up to Rs.10 lakh in the Tarun category.

Agriculture related activities like- poultry, dairy, bee keeping. Apart from this, loans are given under this scheme for activities in the manufacturing, trading and service sectors.
