Join small business digital platform ONDC, will help in increasing business through e-commerce: Piyush Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday invited retailers big and small to join the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). He said that this would help in creating a huge opportunity for all. The Open Network for Doing Business Digitally aims to promote an open and independent platform for all aspects of retail e-commerce. This will help small retailers to expand their operations through e-commerce and reduce the dominance of big companies. ONDC is a non-profit company. It is preparing standards for voluntary adoption by vendors or logistics service providers or payment facility operators.

Everyone’s role in making ONDC a success

At the time of joining ONDC, each party must give in writing that they will abide by its policies. Speaking at an event here, Goyal said, “Everyone has a role to play in making ONDC a success. Therefore, we invite everyone to engage in it in a free and fair manner. No one will be discriminated against in this. It is an open platform for all.” The Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs are working together to resolve consumer complaints.

No risk to anyone from ONDC

He said, “We are making sure that this platform is completely fair. This platform will give a way forward and progress to all the parties of the e-commerce sector without harming the interest of anyone. ”It will allow small retailers to connect with new technologies and new ways of doing business. The minister said, “There is no risk to anyone from ONDC. Even big e-commerce companies are not at risk. It only opens up opportunities. “ONDC will be a game changing e-commerce platform not only in India but across the world in the coming year,” he said.
