Tata will make electric cars in UK: this week the company can unveil the plant, models of Jaguar and Land Rover will be ready.

Tata Motors, one of India’s leading car maker companies, will make electric cars in the United Kingdom (UK). For this, the company-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is going to build an electric car battery plant here.

According to a Reuters report, the company’s plant could be in Somerset in southwest England and on a site between Spain. Tata will supply new electric models of Jaguar and Land Rover from here. Bloomberg had a report on Tuesday that the factory announcement is expected this week.

9 thousand people will get jobs

Negotiations are ongoing with the government on the level of financial support that the Tata group would receive in return for the Gigafactory investment. The BBC said that the government would provide subsidies worth millions of pounds to Tata.

This investment will create jobs for 9,000 people around Bridgwater in Somerset. The project will boost the goal for the UK car manufacturing sector to shift from petrol-diesel vehicles to electric vehicles.

Zero carbon emission target will get a boost

According to Reuters, the Tata project will also give a boost to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s government, which has drawn up a roadmap for zero carbon emissions, including banning new petrol and diesel cars from 2030.

Darren Jones, chairman of the UK Parliament’s business committee, said: ‘JLR’s decision to invest in battery production in the UK is welcome. However, we would like to consider a subsidy package to secure this decision.
