Seven lakh gig jobs will increase in E-commerce industry, demand for temporary employees increased in festive season.
New Delhi, PTI. In the second half of the year 2023, seven lakh gig jobs can be created in the e-commerce industry. This is because companies are increasing the number of temporary employees to provide better customer experience during the festive season.
The number of gig jobs will increase in the festive season
A report by staffing company TeamLease Services states that e-commerce companies are gearing up to meet the demands of consumers during the annual shopping spree ahead of the festive season. As per the report, this year the number of gig jobs may increase by 25 percent in the festive season as compared to last year.
Demand for gig workers will increase in these cities
This indicates that the e-commerce industry is quite optimistic about the outlook. During the festive season, the demand for gig workers will increase not only in Tier-1 cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, but also in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Vadodara, Pune and Coimbatore.
The report states that warehouse operations, last mile delivery and call center operations are more in demand in smaller cities than in larger cities. The main reason for this is the expected return of demand in rural areas.
Demand for gig workers will increase in next 2-3 years: Balasubramanian
Balasubramanian, Vice President, TeamLease Services, says that the demand for gig workers has been increasing by 20 percent on an annual basis for the last five years and this growth is expected to continue for the next 2-3 years. Gig workers will continue to be in demand, especially in the e-commerce sector.
