PFC: Parminder Chopra elected CMD of PFC, first woman to lead Maharatna NBFC.
Power Finance Corporation has appointed Parminder Chopra as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). His appointment will be effective from 14 August 2023.
Chopra has become the first woman to head the country’s largest non-banking financial companies (NBFCs).
Parminder Chopra was earlier holding the additional charge of CMD since June, while also working as Director (Finance). During his tenure as Director (Finance), the Finance Division achieved its highest ever net profit, highest net worth and lowest NPA levels. This gave Power Finance Corporation the highest status of ‘Maharatna’.
He was also instrumental in the successful implementation of the Rs 1.12 lakh crore liquidity investment plan for the power distribution sector, which was launched as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Parminder Chopra has over 35 years of experience in the power and financial sectors. At Power Finance Corporation, Chopra has led key financial functions such as Banking, Treasury, Asset Liability Management and Stressed Asset Resolution. He has previously worked with power sector companies like NHPC Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
