New Delhi: Nikhil Kamat, founder of Zerodha, the country’s largest brokerage firm in terms of number of clients, has started WTF Fund to help young entrepreneurs raise funding. Nikhil Kamat, along with Anant Narayan, Raj Shamani and Kishore Biyani, has launched WTF Fund, which is going to provide funding of Rs 40 lakh to two businesses run by entrepreneurs under the age of 22 years. Nikhil Kamat has said that he is going to launch a fund which is going to be of great help to these entrepreneurs with focus on fashion, beauty or household brands.

WTF Fund is going to provide Rs 40 lakh each to the two winners through funding provided by Mensa brand founder Ananth Narayan along with Kamat, House of X founder Raj Shamani and Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani.

Nikhil Kamat of Zerodha said that the idea of setting up a fund for young entrepreneurs came from the story of Zepto’s young founders Aditya Palecha and Kaivalya Vohra. When he was 18 years old, he got help of Rs 40 lakh from a fund.

WTF Fund is going to give an opportunity to those emerging entrepreneurs who want to establish themselves in the field of fashion, beauty and home brands. Kamat said that the WTF Fund will work to empower and provide funding support to young entrepreneurs who want to start the first brand creation journey.

The decision to launch the WTF fund was taken during the new episode of Nikhil Kamat’s podcast. Kamat has said that many famous people have come together with him to provide this support to new entrepreneurs.

Nikhil Kamat said during the episode that we usually do charity in every episode. This time let’s do it in a different way as an experiment. We will select entrepreneurs under 22 years of age in any industry like fashion, beauty or home brand who do not get funding through other means. Efforts will be made to provide them funds on the basis of this podcast.

After this discussion, all four together created a fund of total Rs 80 lakh in which each has announced to invest Rs 20 lakh. Kamat said that after submitting an application, there will be some preset filters in which it will be brought to 10 to 15 companies. Then all four can do a Zoom call and choose two winners.

Nikhil Kamat has said that India is a great country for entrepreneurs and getting this kind of support to young entrepreneurs will increase the awareness among new people about starting their own venture.
