Investigation into bribery in exchange for job case in TCS completed: Company fired 16 employees, banned 6 vendors.
India’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has fired 16 employees for taking bribe in exchange for providing jobs. At the same time, 6 vendor entities have been banned and all business with their owners and associate companies has been banned.
The company gave information about this in an exchange filing on October 15. TCS said, ‘Action has been taken against a total of 19 employees in this matter, out of which 16 have been fired and three have been removed from management functions.’
CEO said- We took appropriate action
Company CEO K Krithivasan said, ‘We have completed our investigation. We believe that we have taken appropriate action against anyone who violated our Code of Conduct. The action in this case has been completed and the investigation has been closed.
How did TCS come to know about this scam?
The matter first came to light on June 23, 2023, when a whistleblower wrote a letter to the company’s CEO and COO claiming that RMG’s global head ES Chakraborty takes bribes from staffing firms in exchange for providing jobs. After that TCS formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. Chief Information Security Officer Ajit Menon was also included in this.
People involved in the scam earned Rs 100 crore
When the matter came to light, an executive associated with this matter had said that in the last 3 years the company has hired 3 lakh people including contractors. It was also estimated that those involved in the scam had earned at least Rs 100 crore through commission.
