Zomato and Bata received GST notice

Zomato got GST notice
Zomato had said in its regulatory filing that it has been served a show cause notice for GST liability of Rs 401.7 crore. Regarding this notice, the company said that it is not liable to pay the amount. This amount was collected as delivery charges from the delivery partners.
The company said in its regulatory filing that a show cause notice (SCN) dated December 26, 2023, under Section 74(1) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 has been received from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Pune Zonal Unit. The company has to give reasons in this notice. The company reasoned that it is not liable to pay any tax as the delivery charges are collected by the company on behalf of the delivery partners.
Bata received notice
Bata said it has received a notice of Rs 60.56 crore from the state tax officer, Anna Salai Assessment Circle, Chennai. This notice relates to a number of issues raised in the final audit report for the 2018-19 financial year dated December 25. The issues raised in this notice include differences in tax on outward supplies in GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C returns, benefit of additional input tax credit (ITC) and ITC reversal on credit notes.
The company received an audit notice from him on April 27, 2023 and he submitted documents in response. According to the filing, Bata India was granted a personal hearing on January 10, 2024, to present its case and give more details on the disputed issues.
