DGCA imposed fine of ₹ 1.1 crore on Air India: Action on violation of safety rules, airline employee had complained
India’s aviation regulator DGCA has imposed a fine of ₹1.1 crore on Air India for violation of safety rules. Air India did not follow the necessary rules and safety manuals related to oxygen in some flights of Boeing B777 aircraft. An Air India employee had complained about this to DGCA, after which this action has been taken.
Action for not following safety regulation standards
DGCA said that initial investigation found the airline violating the rules, after which a show cause notice was issued to Air India. After this, an investigation was conducted by DGCA, in which the airlines were found not to follow the Aircraft Safety Regulation standards.
2 months ago DGCA had imposed a fine of ₹10 lakh on Air India
Two months ago DGCA had imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Air India. This fine was imposed on the airlines for not following the standards set for providing necessary facilities to the passengers.
DGCA had issued a statement saying, ‘We inspected Air India units at Delhi, Kochi and Bengaluru airports in May and September, in which we found that the airline was not properly following the Civil Aviation Provisions (CAR).’
