IndiGo: IndiGo will buy 100 small aircraft, the company is in talks with ATR-Embraer and Airbus.

India’s largest airline Indigo is preparing to buy 100 small aircraft. The company is planning to expand its regional network. For this he needs small planes. It is in talks with ATR, Embraer and Airbus for this deal.

IndiGo already operates 45 ATR-72 aircraft with 78 seats. However, the Airbus A-220 and Embraer E-175 aircraft are also in the race. IndiGo had placed an order for 500 aircraft with Airbus last year, the largest order in the history of aviation. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers had said in April that the ambitious target was to double the size of the airline by 2030.

Indigo has 60 percent share in domestic air traffic.

After international routes, IndiGo is further strengthening its network in the country. Earlier on April 25, the airline had announced the order of 30 Airbus A-350-900 aircraft. Apart from the ATR, IndiGo’s fleet includes the Airbus A-320 and A-321. IndiGo has 60 percent share in India’s domestic air traffic. The company is looking at opportunities in less populated cities. Better airport infrastructure and the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme are expected to increase demand for air traffic in these cities.
