This government company will make India’s first bullet train, got a contract of Rs 867 crore from ICF
India’s first bullet train will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The work on the country’s first high-speed train project is progressing rapidly. A new development has taken place in this project. Actually, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), a government company that manufactures trains for Indian Railways, has given the contract of making bullet trains to BEML. Let us tell you that BEML is also a government company, whose headquarters is in Bengaluru. BEML has got a contract of Rs 866.87 crore to make 2 high-speed train sets with 8 coaches each.

Under the contract, BEML will not only manufacture the bullet train but will also do its design and commissioning work. BEML Limited said in a press release issued on Tuesday, October 15, “ICF has awarded BEML a contract for the design, manufacture and commissioning of two high-speed train sets, each train will have 8 coaches.”
The cost of one coach of the bullet train will be Rs 27.86 crore
BEML said in its press release, “The cost of each coach of the bullet train is Rs 27.86 crore and the total cost of the contract is Rs 866.87 crore. This includes design cost, one-time development cost, non-recurring charges and one-time cost for jigs, fixtures, tooling and testing facilities, which will be used for all future high-speed train projects in India.” Testing will be done at a speed of 280 kmph
BEML said that this project will prove to be a milestone for India’s high-speed rail, including the first indigenously designed Made in India train set with a testing speed of 280 kmph. Let us tell you that ICF had issued a tender for 2 chair-car high-speed trains on September 5. The maximum speed of these stainless steel carbody trains will be 280 kmph and the operational speed will be 250 kmph.
