Women entrepreneurs running salons and beauty parlors will get help, NITI Aayog’s WEP joined hands with Urban Company

Niti Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) has partnered with Urban Company to empower women entrepreneurs. Under this pilot initiative, women entrepreneurs running salons and beauty parlors will be assisted. This information was given in an official statement on Friday. According to the statement, WEP, under its reward-to-reward initiative, has launched the project on a pilot basis to support women MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) to grow their business in the beauty and health care sector.

These sectors were identified

Women entrepreneurs will be provided training in skills, law and compliance, access to finance, market and business development services, as well as mentorship and networking. A study by Microsave Consulting identified four key sectors with more than 1,00,000 women MSMEs. These sectors are – beauty and health care, textile manufacturing, retail trade and food and beverages. The statement said that the initiative, launched on a pilot basis, aims to develop a system to advance women-run MSMEs across the country by leveraging the experience and learnings gained through the program.

Urban Company will lead

The statement said that Urban Company will lead the program in collaboration with other key parties to identify women working in small enterprises and assist them in the development of their businesses. NITI Aayog established WEP as an ‘aggregator’ platform in 2018. It became a platform working under public-private partnership in 2022.
