Reliance Jio sold 13.5 crore JioPhones! Now preparing to bring cheap 5G phones
The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio is rapidly increasing its rural Indian user base. Along with expanding 5G, the company is also focusing on these crores of users of the country who still use 2G network. For this, the company has launched its cheap phones in the market, which include phones like JioPhone, JioBharat. There are 2.5 crore users in India who are dependent on 2G network. Reliance Jio is trying to rapidly shift them to 4G. According to a report, the company has sold 13.5 crore units of its cheap phone JioPhone.
Along with the expansion of 5G in cities, Reliance Jio is also engaged in the exercise of rapidly delivering 4G in rural India. Telecom Talk report says that the company has sold 13.5 crore units of JioPhone so far. Apart from this, the company is now also partnering with original equipment manufacturers, which also includes American company Qualcomm. Under this partnership, the company is preparing to make cheap 5G phones.
Talking about Reliance Jio’s subscriber base, TRAI’s September data says that the company currently has more than 46.37 crore subscribers. Jio’s 5G users number 14.8 crore, which is 34 percent of its wireless data traffic. According to the report, Sunil Dutt, President of the company’s Devices Department, has said that they are working very closely with their partner brands and device manufacturers. This also includes innovation and manufacturing of 5G smartphones.
The company has especially emphasized that it is working with Qualcomm to make cheap 5G so that 5G devices can be made more affordable for users. Brands like Xiaomi, Motorola are also launching cheap 5G phones in the market, but Jio’s aim seems to be to bring even cheaper devices to the market. Now it remains to be seen when the company introduces its new and cheap 5G phones in the market. In this competition among brands, users will obviously have the option of cheaper 5G smartphones.
