Tesla looking for space for showroom in Delhi: Company wants 5,000 square feet space, had earlier cancelled plan to enter India
Elon Musk’s electric vehicle maker Tesla has resumed its search for a place for a showroom in New Delhi. News agency Reuters has given this information in a report quoting sources. This is an indication that the company is reconsidering its entry into the Indian market after halting its investment plans earlier this year.
Earlier, Tesla had canceled its plan to enter India and Musk also canceled his visit in April. It was then expected that during the visit, Musk could announce plans to invest $ 2-3 billion in India.
Company in talks with DLF
According to the report, Tesla is in talks with India’s largest property developer DLF for showrooms and operational space in Delhi-NCR. The company is looking for several places including DLF Avenue Mall in South Delhi and Cyber Hub in Gurugram. For this, the company is also in talks with other developers.
Tesla is looking for a showroom of 3,000 to 5,000 square feet, in which it will provide facilities for customer experience center, delivery of wheels and its servicing. The search for a place for Tesla’s showroom is still in the initial phase, the company has not finalized anything yet.
Musk was to come to India after the new EV policy
Elon Musk was to come to India between 22 and 27 April this year, but suddenly he canceled this tour. Musk was also going to meet PM Modi in this tour. Elon Musk planned to come to India after the government brought a new EV policy. Under the new policy, foreign car manufacturing companies will have to invest at least $ 497 million (Rs 4,150 crore) in India to get tax exemption and start production of EV within 3 years from a local factory / manufacturing facility.
