BSNL will launch eSIM, 4G network will be available across the country by June next year

Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will soon launch eSIM. The company has said that its 4G network will be available across the country by June next year. After this, the company plans to launch 5G network. The number of subscribers of the company has increased in the last few months. The reason for this is the low tariff of BSNL compared to private telecom companies.

However, 5G network of big private telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio is present in a large part of the country. In this respect, BSNL is far behind these companies. BSNL has said that it will start eSIM service by March next year. After this, 4G network will be made available across the country by June. The company does not plan to increase the tariff soon.

Last week, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that the company’s financial recovery is happening. BSNL plans to launch 5G service in the middle of next year. Scindia had said that BSNL’s functioning is getting stronger. It is very important for a country like India to have three-four telecom companies. He said, “In the last three-four years, the company’s revenue has increased by 12 percent. During this period, the company’s expenditure has decreased by two percent. For the last three years, the company is in positive terms of EBITDA. BSNL’s operating profit has increased to about Rs 2,300 crore.” The company plans to install one lakh towers by June next year.

Recently, a parliamentary panel had advised BSNL to take help from foreign companies until the indigenous technology improves. There are only four countries in the world that have their own technology stack to launch mobile networks. The central government wants to include India in the list of these countries. The parliamentary panel has advised BSNL to expand the scope of technology for 4G network. This panel says that the company should use the indigenous 4G stack as well as take help from foreign companies that have expertise in testing related solutions. A consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Tata Group’s IT company, is providing technology to BSNL for this network.
