Zomato changed its name, got approval from the board, know what Deepinder Goyal’s company will be called now
Food and grocery delivery giant Zomato is changing its name to Eternal. The company’s board approved the new name on Thursday. According to a regulatory filing, the decision is yet to be approved by the company’s shareholders, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and other applicable statutory authorities. However, the brand name and app of the company’s food delivery business Zomato will remain the same.
Company’s board approves
Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said in a letter to shareholders, “Our board has approved this change today and I request our shareholders to support this change as well. If and when it is approved, our corporate website will change from zomato.com to eternal.com. We will also change our stock ticker.”
Eternal will have 4 businesses
Goyal said that Eternal will currently include four major businesses – Zomato, Blinkit, District and Hyperpure. Goyal said, ‘When we acquired Blinkit, we started using “Eternal” (instead of Zomato) internally to differentiate between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that we would change the name of the company to Eternal the day something other than Zomato becomes a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I think we are there. We would like to rename Zomato Limited, the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Limited.’
