Japan’s gift to India – 300 km speed bullet train Shinkansen will be available for free
India’s first bullet train project is going to get a big support. Japan will give India two Shinkansen train sets – E5 and E3 series – for free, which will help in testing and inspection of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. According to the Japan Times report, these trains will reach India in early 2026.
How will these trains be useful? These trains will be fitted with special inspection equipment, which will collect data keeping in mind the environmental conditions of India like the track, speed, temperature and dust of the trains. Based on this, the design of the next generation E10 series (Alfa-X) will be prepared.
What are E5 and E3 Shinkansen trains?E5 Series: This is Japan’s high-speed train. Their maximum speed is 320 km/h. This train has been running in Japan since 2011 and has been a favorite model for India since the beginning.
E3 Series: This is a slightly older model that is used in the ‘Mini Shinkansen’ service in Japan. Its ride quality, aerodynamic design and safety features are excellent.
