Infosys fired 240 trainee employees! Reason given
Layoffs are continuing in IT companies. Trainee employees along with regular employees are also not able to escape from this sword of layoff. Something similar has been seen in Infosys where the company has shown the way out to its 240 trainee employees. It has been said that these trainee employees could not pass the internal test, so they were fired. The company informed about this layoff on 18 April. Earlier in February also, the company had fired more than 300 employees.
Infosys has laid off 240 entry level employees. Infosys informed its trainee employees about this through an email (via). The email sent on April 18 read, ‘Apart from the announcement of your final assessment results, you are being informed that you have not met the eligibility criteria in the ‘Generic Foundation Training Program’ despite the additional preparation time, doubt clearing sessions, several mock assessments and three attempts. Due to which you will not be able to continue your journey for the trainee program.’
The email further read, ‘To help you in your journey to find opportunities outside Infosys, we are arranging professional outplacement services for you. We also want to provide Infosys sponsored external training and career options to prepare you for potential roles in the BPM industry. After the training is over, you can also apply for the opportunities available in Infosys BPM Limited. At the same time, if you want to enhance your IT skills, then you are also being provided with Infosys sponsored IT Fundamentals Training Program so that your IT career journey can be supported further.’ Let us tell you that the trainee employees will also get one month’s salary, accommodation, travel fare from Mysore Training Center to Bangalore or their hometown.
The company’s motive behind the layoffs is to adjust to the market conditions. According to the company, it has received very few orders in the current financial year, due to which its profit has been estimated to increase by only 0.3 percent. The company had to take the step of layoffs due to recession in the sector. According to the report, clients in markets like America and Europe are cutting down expenses. As a result, the number of contracts received by the company has decreased.
