Bharti Airtel and its unit Bharti Hexacom together have announced to buy 400 MHz spectrum in the 26 GHz band from Adani Data Networks Limited. Adani Data Networks is a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.
Where will the spectrum be used? The new 400 MHz spectrum will be used in these states. Gujarat (100 MHz), Mumbai (100 MHz), Andhra Pradesh (50 MHz), Rajasthan (50 MHz), Karnataka (50 MHz), Tamil Nadu also (50 MHz).
Bharti Airtel has signed an agreement to acquire the spectrum of Adani Data Networks. The company will acquire 400 MHz spectrum within the 26 GHz band.
Adani Data Networks had taken this spectrum in the auction of the year 2022. The company had bid Rs 212 crore for it. However, despite two and a half years having passed, the company has not been able to start services yet. The company has also not been able to fulfill the roll out obligation given by the government.
What will Airtel get from the deal- There will be an opportunity to further strengthen 5G services. The speed of indoor and enterprise data networks will improve. Spectrum support will be available for low latency and high bandwidth uses such as smart cities, Industry 4.0
