WhatsApp Disappearing Messages

WhatsApp informed about the launch of the Disappearing Messages feature last week. The Facebook-owned company had informed that the new feature will be made available to all Android and iOS users within a month. Now WhatsApp has started rolling out the Disappearing Messages feature for Android beta users.

According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp beta users can now use the new feature on the Android platform. This feature is rolling out slowly and currently this feature is available in WhatsApp beta version 2.20.206.9. Since this roll out is a bit slow, it may take some time to reach all beta users. You can check whether they have got the new Disappearing Messages feature by going to the WhatsApp beta users’ app. You can see whether the disappearing messages feature is visible by going to Contact Info. For group chat, users can check by going to group info.

If the feature is available in the app, you can turn it on and activate the Disappearing Messages feature. Once enabled, the message sent in a chat will automatically disappear after 7 days. This will only be for those messages that will be sent after the feature is enabled.

The WhatsApp Disappearing Message feature also has some limitations. After seven days, the message will appear in the notification preview even if the message disappears. Even after the disappearance of the original text message, the text will continue to appear in the message quoted and sent in the chat. This message also does not work for forwarded messages. If you have forwarded a dispensing message, it will continue to appear in forwarded chat even if it is missing from the original chat. You can backup dispatching messages but it will not show up even after the chat is restored. It is expected that WhatsApp Disappearing will soon be released in the iOS beta app.
