FASTag will be mandatory from January, know where to get it and how it will be recharged

From January, the FASTag will be mandatory on the toll plazas of all the National Highways (NHAI) of the country. That is, toll will be paid in every four wheeler only through FASTag chip. The government aims to have 100 percent toll collection by December through FASTag; the use of cash should be stopped altogether.

At present, 80 percent toll collection is being done on the National Highway through FASTag. So if your car is not fitted with FASTag and you go to the National High Way, then there may be a problem for you. In this case, we are going to tell you how you can buy and install FASTag for your car.

Where to get FASTag

  1. You do not need to go anywhere to get FASTag installed. You can order it online.
  2. You can buy it from all major retail platforms like Amazon, Paytm, Snapdeal.
  3. Apart from this, it can also be purchased from Point of Sale established by 23 banks.
  4. Road Transport Authority offices also sell FASTag
  5. NHAI also sells FASTag through its subsidiary Indian Highway Management Company (IHMCL).

FASTag is also available from petrol pump. Apart from this, the government is now trying to increase its network further. More and more petrol pumps and commercial centers will be linked to FASTag sales. So that people do not have to wander from place to place to take FASTag.

How to purchase FASTag

To buy Fastag, photocopy of driving license and registration of your car is necessary. You can use Aadhaar card, passport or PAN card as your photo ID. FASTag is valid forever, as long as the scanner is able to read FASTag, FASTag is valid. If you take FASTag through IHMCL, you can download the My FASTag mobile app and link your FASTag to it. Each FASTag has a unique number. Similarly banks, e-wallets have their own methods.

Do remember one thing

Most large banks also offer FASTag. But remember that FASTag purchased from one bank cannot be used in another bank account. That is, if you have purchased FASTag from ICICI Bank, then your bank account should also be in this bank.

How much will you get FASTag

According to NHAI, you can buy FASTag from any bank for 200 rupees. At the same time, you can recharge FASTag with at least 100 rupees. The government has allowed the bank and the payment wallet to levy some additional charges on its behalf on the recharge.
