Government of India launches digital calendar and diary app, will have different themes every month

Government of India digital calendar and diary app has been launched. This is the first time the official calendar and diary have been introduced in digital form. The digital calendar and diary has been launched by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar. The digital calendar and diary app is currently made available in Hindi and English, soon to be launched in other 11 languages. The theme of the calendar and diary will be changed every month.

Five crores will be saved: Ministry

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday launched the digital calendar and diary for 2021, stating that this would save about five crore rupees in the expenditure on printing the calendar.

The app was launched at the National Media Center. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar launched Android and iOS app for calendar and diary by pressing a button. He said that every year we print 11 lakh calendars and 90,000 diaries but this year it is in digital format.

Great men will be mentioned

Press Information Bureau (PIB) chief KS Dhatwalia said that last year, the printing of calendars and diaries costed rupees seven crore, but this time being in digital format the ministry cost around Rs 2 crore. On this occasion, Javadekar expressed happiness that the calendar installed on the walls will now be available in mobile phones.

Javadekar said that this app will fulfill the need of new calendar every year. Each month a theme will be set and messages will be given in it and a great man will be mentioned. The app will also tell people about the timeline of the start of various government programs.

Available in 11 languages from January 15

Regarding the diary of the app, he said that due to the diary, more features have been added to the calendar. It has more features than other digital calendar apps and is also easy to use. He said that the ‘GOI Calendar’ app is free and it will be available in 11 languages from January 15.

The Bureau of Outreach and Communication of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has designed and developed the app. The ministry said that at present it is available in Hindi and English language and soon it will be made available in 11 other regional languages.
