Indian startups will hire TikTok employees, Chingari and Bolo Indya come forward
Recently, TidTalk and Hello App’s parent company, ByteDance, shut down their Indian businesses completely. This left thousands of people unemployed. Now Indian Startups are coming forward to help them. Companies such as Bolo Indya and Chingari have expressed a desire to include some employees in their team.
Bolo Indya to recruit on many posts
CEO and Founder of Bolo Indya, Varun Saxena said that it is unfortunate for Indian talent to be unemployed with the Chinese app ban in India. The Indians working in these companies are quite talented. We want to make them a part of our journey by including some of them in our team. The company will recruit for several positions including Business Development, User Engagement, Product Management, Community Management, Content Strategy, and Content Moderation Function.
Apart from this, there will also be appointments to the posts of Vice President and Assistant Vice President to enhance the leadership team. Bolo was launched in May 2019. The company claims that it has 6.8 million active monthly users in India.
Some employees will get a place in the Chingari
The short video platform Chingari also said that it will hire some people affected by job cuts. Aditya Kothari, Co-Founder of Chingari said that Indians have the ability to do wonders and our priority right now is the Indian market and in the future, we will expand our business. He said that this retrenchment is quite unfortunate. No company wishes to do this for itself or its employees. We will hire some people fired from ByteDance.
The company consolidated Indian business
TikTok took the decision to discontinue business in India because it was not being given any clear information from the government as to how and when it would be able to resume operations. TikTok is one of 59 Chinese apps that the government has decided to ban permanently. The decision was taken several months after the government temporarily banned Chinese apps in June last year.
Globally earns the most despite the ban
Despite the ban in India and the ongoing legal battle in the US, TikTok became the highest-grossing app globally in 2020, with the company making a profit of 3.9 thousand crore rupees.
The most downloaded app TikTok in 2020
TikTok was the world’s most downloaded app in 2020, with 85 million, according to data from app analytics firm. It was followed by WhatsApp with 60 million downloads and Facebook with 54 million downloads. Following the clash of Indo-China troops in Galwan, the government on June 29 banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok.
