iPhone 12 and Apple Watch may be affected by lack of OLED display chips

There has been a sharp decline in the production of the tech and auto industry due to Corona. On one hand, due to the lack of supply of semiconductors, the manufacture and delivery of smartphones and cars are being delayed. So now the production of Samsung’s OLED display is being affected due to the lack of chips around the world. This can also have a direct impact on iPhone production, as the iPhone uses OLED displays.

According to a report, Samsung has been forced to close its chip fabrication plant in Texas due to a major snowstorm. The plant produces 5% of the global supply of chips for smartphones and personal computers. Now with its closure, the chips market is witnessing a huge reduction at the global level.

iPhone 12 and Apple Watch feature OLED display

The OLED display used in the iPhone 12 and Apple Watch models is manufactured at Samsung’s Texas plant. Now the closure of the plant may also affect the production of the apple.

The plant also produces chips for organic light-emitting diode panels and image sensors. Qualcomm’s lack of supplies will affect a large range of smartphone manufactures, which depend on the company for major components.

TSMC Design Center will not compensate

It was previously expected that Apple would not face any production issues due to the current chip shortage, as the TSMC Design Center produces the A-series chips used in the new iPhone 12 Series. This is in contrast to Android smartphone companies, which rely on Qualcomm, Samsung and other processors.
