Pandemic Impact: AC, refrigerator makers now trust this thing to improve sales
Weekend lockdown and night curfew have been announced in several states to prevent the growing infection of coronavirus in the country. Initially imposed for 1 week, this lockdown is progressing slowly. Due to this, the movement of people has been affected in April and May this year. When people are not getting out of the house, they are not even shopping for essentials.
Decrease in sales growth estimate
Due to the growing crisis of Corona in the country, people are not willing to spend on things like refrigerator and AC. Because of the fear of the third phase of coronavirus, people are focusing on saving. Voltas, a major AC maker in the country, has said that it was expecting 2-digit growth in the current financial year, but sales growth was down due to a lockdown in several states of the country to prevent the growing infection of coronavirus.
First-quarter worthless
Voltas MD and CEO Pradeep Bakshi said, “Initially we were budgeting and at that time we were expecting to grow by 2 points. Now the first quarter is completely washed out due to the Corona crisis. Our effort will be to increase our sales in the remaining month of the year. Daikin AC India MD and CEO Kanwaljeet Jawa said, “If we are able to achieve what we have done in 201, then it is a big thing for us.”
75 percent decrease in sales
Companies like Voltas, Daikin, Blue Star, Panasonic and Haier are working in the cooling business in the country. Their sales decreased by 75% in April. This comparison has been made since April of 2019. It is believed that in May the business of companies may collapse. The consumer sentiment has also been impacted amid Corona’s current situation. It is feared that the third phase of the corona transition may also come, with hopes of recovery of sales of Compressor Cooling Products becoming clouded.
Corona spoiled the game
Last year, companies in the first phase of Coronavirus suffered weak sales in April. There was a decrease of only 10 percent in May and 25 percent in June sales. These figures are compared to 2 years ago. Manish Sharma, South India President and CEO of Panasonic India, said that AC sales started on a positive note in March, but due to the sudden spurt in cases of corona infection, the summer sales could see a significant impact.
AC-Refrigerator Sales
For the second consecutive year in the country, the Corona epidemic has hit the peak season of refrigerator and AC sales. The local lockdown has been carried out in many parts of the country to prevent corona infection. Due to the increasing infection of the corona in the country, there is a ban on the traffic of people and due to this the movement of people has been affected. In the event of falling sales, companies have had to set their targets again. Compared to April of 2019, companies can face a big challenge in meeting their sales target.
