Facebook to expand fact-finding program in India

Facebook will expand its fact-finding program in India to protect people from corona and all other health-related misinformation. According to Facebook, the company has partnered with The Healthy Indian Project (THIP) to enhance its capabilities to understand and curb health-related misinformation on the platform. THIP is Facebook’s first health-expert partner program in India.

THIP works with verified medical professionals to investigate misleading news and claims about health, drugs, diet and treatments in English, Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi and Gujarati, the company said in a statement.

During the pandemic, Facebook has removed more than 18 million harmful misinformation and, with the help of third-party fact-checkers, identified more than 167 million fake news stories on Corona.
